Keeping Granite Stone Surfaces Looking Great

Granite is the hardest and most durable of all the natural stones you can use for flooring. Granite is resistant to staining, acid, and alkaline chemical attacks, and it can also withstand stains. It is, therefore, the preferred kitchen worktop and flooring material.

It is still susceptible to being scratched by quartz, despite its hardness. Quartz, a sand-like material, is the most common dirt brought into buildings from the underside of the foot.

Tips For Clean Granite

Granite is the most durable and hard-wearing of all the natural stones you can use for flooring. Granite is resistant to staining, acid, and alkaline chemical attacks, and it can also withstand stains. It is, therefore, the preferred kitchen worktop and flooring material.

It is still susceptible to being scratched by quartz, despite its hardness. Quartz, a sand-like material, is the most common dirt that gets into buildings. It can be found on the footwear's underside. This causes tiny scratches by transferring small particles of sand from the pavement to the granite. Granite scratches less than marble, but it still grates.

The correct maintenance program can reduce this effect. Granite flooring requires regular maintenance. It would help if you dusted mop it to remove dirt particles once a day. Once or twice per week, depending on traffic, you should wash it with stone soap. This seals the floor and improves its color. The floor is then wet, vacuumed, and then rinsed with pure water. This prevents water staining by using wet vacuuming.

Depending on traffic, the floor is misted with a crystallizing agent once a week or every other week. Finally, the floor is buffed at high speeds. This will remove any small scratches and restore the floor's shine. It can then be polished with a harder crystallizing compound and a slower speed buffer with non-rusting steel wool pads once a year.

This will ensure that the granite floors shine for as long as possible.

If the floor is neglected or not maintained properly, it will gradually become duller and scratch more. The scratching on marble floors would be more severe and can be repaired using a diamond grinder and a slow-speed buffing machine. It is not possible to re-grind granite. Although it can be polished using the diamond technique, the granite will often change its color. This is unacceptable to the customer.

For marble, this process takes around 30 minutes per square meter. Granite takes two to three hours. To achieve any shine, it takes approximately two to three hours.

Marble is ground in processing plants for approximately 40 minutes to get the high gloss effect. On the other side, granite will take several hours to achieve the same result. Once the granite has been placed, it is impossible to duplicate this process.

If you have a granite floor that has become dull and someone offers to modify it, don't bother. It will be a shiny floor, but it will likely have changed color. You will not be in this situation again if you take care of it.
